Aubrac, Land of Transhumance

Explore this vast high plateau, nestled between the Truyère Valley to the north and the Lot Valley to the south. Aubrac, a land of nature and traditions, reveals itself along narrow, winding roads, sometimes playful, always conducive to contemplation. Along these routes, it's not uncommon to see hikers on the famous Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago).

Aubrac area

Explore this 130+ km route and discover the rivers and lakes that shape the Aubrac landscape, as well as the vast meadows where herds of Aubrac cattle graze peacefully. This plateau, bathed in a unique light, invites relaxation and contemplation. Take the time to admire nature and be sure to savor a traditional aligot in one of the plateau's burons (traditional mountain huts)!

Mountains and lakes of Aubrac

Starting from Marvejols, a royal and fortified town in the Gévaudan region, hop on your motorcycle and head towards the Aubrac plateau. Along the way, numerous natural sites will amaze you: the Déroc waterfall, the Salhiens lake, the Bonnecombe pond, and the Aubrac mountains. For wildlife enthusiasts, a stop at the Gévaudan Wolf Park is a must!

Road 48

This route, true to its name, allows you to discover the diverse landscapes of the department. Between the Cévennes-Mont Lozère, the Causses, the Tarn Gorges, the Aubrac, the Margeride, and the Lot Valley, there's something for everyone. All along the way, peaks and plateaus offer breathtaking panoramas and vast expanses, ideal for admiring the beauty of Lozère.
