An essential place to understand, discover and experience the Aubrac region
Located in the heart of the Aubrac region, the Maison de l’Aubrac is the ideal starting point for exploring this exceptional area. A true meeting place and hub for learning, it invites you to discover the nature, culture, gastronomy, and traditions of Aubrac through diverse and vibrant spaces: an art gallery, a museum room, an information center, a botanical garden, and gourmet areas. An essential stop for truly understanding the spirit of Aubrac.
A house dedicated to the Aubrac region
First, the Maison de l’Aubrac showcases the richness of this preserved region. It highlights the nature, culture, local economy, gastronomy, and traditions of the Aubrac.
Next, visitors can explore at their own pace. They can wander between an art gallery, a large museum hall, and a tourist information point. These spaces allow them to better understand the region and plan their outings.
In addition, a regular cultural season punctuates the year. Workshops and lectures delve deeper into the themes explored and strengthen the connection with the Aubrac.
Finally, to extend the experience, the gourmet shop and regional bookstore offer a selection of local products and books. The Bar Gourmand, meanwhile, provides a relaxing spot on its panoramic terrace, overlooking the Aubrac landscape.
The botanical richness of the Aubrac
First, the Aubrac region is distinguished by its remarkable plant diversity. Its climate, altitude, and varied natural environments have shaped a unique flora.
The Botanical Garden invites visitors to discover local plants in recreated spaces. Here, you can observe plants from peat bogs, forests, pastures, stream banks, and rocky areas.
Furthermore, certain rare and protected species are highlighted, notably glacial relics and carnivorous plants, emblematic of the plateau.
Finally, located in the heart of the Grande Prairie d’Aubrac Sensitive Natural Area, the garden features a geological embankment. This explains how ice and volcanic activity shaped the current landscapes. Educational activities complement the visit and make the experience accessible to all.
