Village of Fau-de-Peyre

#Discover

Located in the northeast of the department, Fau-de-Peyre is now part of the new commune of Peyre-en-Aubrac. This peaceful village, both rural and vibrant, has approximately 190 inhabitants, spread across some twenty hamlets. Nestled between vast beech and pine forests, the remarkable landscapes of the Aubrac and Margeride mountains offer a preserved natural setting, ideal for hiking and exploration.

A bit of history

Le Fau-de-Peyre is nestled in a region rich in traditions and history. Between Aubrac and Margeride, the village has long lived in harmony with the rhythms of the forest and agriculture.

Its heritage still bears witness to this past. There is the Church of Saint-Martin, built in the 12th century, as well as granite crosses and several communal ovens. These elements recall the rural way of life of yesteryear.

Over time, the village has evolved. In 2017, it joined the new municipality of Peyre-en-Aubrac. This integration reflects a desire for cooperation between the territories, while preserving local identity.
