Village of Arcomie
#Discover
Perched in northern Lozère, bordering Cantal and nestled between the majestic Aubrac plateau and the wild landscapes of the Margeride, the village of Arcomie invites leisurely strolls and exploration. Bisected by the Arcomie stream, which rises here before joining the Truyère River, the village offers a peaceful natural setting, ideal for enjoying a moment of tranquility in the heart of the Monts-Verts.
A bit of history
On January 1, 1973, Arcomie merged with the communes of Bacon and Berc to form the new commune of Monts-Verts. The village retained its status as an associated commune until July 17, 1990, when a simple merger was established, reflecting the administrative and social evolution of the area.
In the center of the village, the 12th-century Church of Sainte-Madeleine stands proudly in granite. Its bell gable, built in 1808 and capable of housing three bells, dominates the village and marks its architectural history.
