The tourist tax is a 1910 law initiated by municipalities that incur expenses to promote tourism.
In addition to the price of your stay in tourist accommodation on the Aubrac plateau, there is a tourist tax, collected by the accommodation provider on behalf of the Communauté de Communes des Hautes Terres de l’Aubrac (Community of Municipalities of the High Aubrac Region). This tax is calculated based on the type of accommodation (furnished apartment, bed and breakfast, hotel, campsite) and the number of people staying on site.
The collected tax is entirely dedicated to the development of tourism in the Aubrac region of Lozère.
To help you calculate the actual tourist tax, an online simulator is available. The calculation differs depending on whether your accommodation is officially classified or not. Please refer to the table that applies to your situation.

While the classification of furnished tourist accommodation by the owner is optional, the Tourism Code mandates that owners register their accommodation with the Town Hall (Law No. 2009-888 of July 22, 2009). Owners of furnished tourist accommodation, whether classified or not, are required to register their properties with the Town Hall.
