"One of the most beautiful lines in Europe"
The Aubrac line, one of the most beautiful railway lines in Europe, winds its way through magnificent landscapes: the Grands Causses, the Lot, the Margeride, the Aubrac plateau, and the volcanoes of Auvergne. Its construction was a true challenge, and its preservation continues to mobilize railway workers, local residents, elected officials, and associations in the face of the fragility of the small lines in the Massif Central. Stretching 277 km between Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Occitanie, it includes 83 tunnels and viaducts, among them the famous Garabit Viaduct, a masterpiece by Eiffel, which soars 122 meters above the Truyère gorges.
Today, only one passenger train runs daily on the entire line, in both directions between Paris and Béziers. This service is supplemented by regional trains (TER).
The Aubrac Train runs daily between Béziers and Clermont-Ferrand, accessible from Paris and Montpellier, offering a unique journey through secluded villages and breathtaking panoramas.
